Care, treatment and support
Our purpose-built care home is of a size and scale that offers all residents the care they need in an environment that places great emphasis on interaction, activity and enjoyment.
We have a comprehensive pre-admission process that draws upon the wishes and preferences of residents and those involved in their care and lives at Barley View. With dedicated care management, we communicate, engage and offer support to residents and their families.
Welcome packs and personalised care plans are specific to each resident’s needs and are focused on achieving outcomes to retain abilities and receive care that is individual, personal and supportive.
We have nominated keyworkers to support with day-to-day management of personal space, wardrobes, toiletries and everyday tasks.
We work alongside health and social care commissioners and agencies to help provide the most appropriate care and support for people’s health and wellbeing. All residents have access to 24-hour healthcare support via the tele-medication support system. Residents also have access to a Nurse Call System, where they can ring a buzzer to call for assistance.
Food and nutrition
We have a team of in-house cooks producing delicious home-cooked meals. Meals are balanced and nutritious in accordance with the needs of the individuals and can accommodate any special dietary requirements.
Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day from communal kitchens and snack stations in individual bedrooms, and family and friends are welcome to join residents for meals by prior arrangements.
Outings and activities
We have a dedicated Activities and Wellbeing Co-ordinator and a whole staff team approach to ensuring residents lead fulfilling, meaningful lives, with access to a programme of activities and planned trips.
There are regular visits to local parks, markets and shops in Whitworth, as well as organised excursions to local places of interest.
Residents who enjoy activities within the community, such as members of sports and community groups, are encouraged to continue with their pastimes and interests.
We also organise activities within the communal lounge, such as knitting, dancing, painting and exercise, with regular celebrations for landmark days and events.
We welcome a number of visiting professionals providing a range of services for the benefit and convenience of residents.
We work closely with local health and social care providers who visit the home on a regular basis or who can make visits by prior arrangement.
These include local GPs, district nurses, opticians and chiropodists. Barley View is also equipped with its own hairdressing salon, with a hairdresser and barber available for appointments.
